Job Description

PER-DIEM varied evening & w/e Under the supervision of the department Section Head, assumes responsibility for performance of routine, standardized biological and/or bio chemical test procedures on blood, urine, tissue, body fluids and other specimen sources that assists physicians in the diagnosis and clinical management of patients. Demonstrates individual judgment with strong theoretical and practical knowledge of instrumentation and the principles of test procedures. Recognizes results or problems that require referral to laboratory management staff. Assumes responsibility for actively contributing to the laboratory's productivity and cost effectiveness, including but not limited to employee orientation and implementation of new tests and writing procedures. Participates in the laboratory quality assurance and compliance program. Participates in special projects related to lab development. Assumes charge as needed. Licensed by NYS Department of Education or eligible. Currently registered with NYSED. Employees must obtain NYS licensure within 10 months of hire. Offsite locations: Candidates must be NYS DOH Supervisor Qualified.
